And so the Viral Campaign for Prometheus begins. Those of whom love the Alien franchise will find the video below interesting. Now initially I would have considered this to be a spoiler, however it is apart of the viral campaign so I rule it out as being one. For more those who do not know what Prometheus read more after the video for a brief explanation as well as other interesting Alien related information
Prometheus is Ridley Scott's return to the Sci-Fi genre. Initially envisioned as a two-part prequel to the first Alien film, the film went through numerous revisions and is now due to be released June 8, 2012. The film will be directed by Scott and was written by Lost Co-Creator Damon Lindelof. Damon claims that while the film is no longer a direct prequel to the original film, Prometheus will contain traces of the Alien franchise.
This brings us to the above video. This is the first "trace" of the Alien franchise. Guy Pierce portrays Peter Weyland. Yes it is the same Weyland from the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. Androids are currently being developed at this point in time, which is the year 2023. These same androids will ultimately take the form of Ash and Bishop sometime in the Alien films.
On a more interesting note here is the trailer for the original Alien and Prometheus. The trailers are very similar to one another. The third YouTube Video is the original Alien trailer re-cut Prometheus style. This is all very interesting and I cannot wait to see this film. Only The Dark Knight Rises is higher on my Must-See of 2012 list.
