The French Connection
I just want to start off by saying I have not been following the Republicans election campaigns as much as I probably should be. However one does not need to follow a campaign to realize when one of the candidate's is running a smear campaign, which they all do. This ad has to be one of the best displays of stupidity I have seen in awhile. I am of course speaking about the fact that Newt Gingrich is criticizing Mitt Romney because he speaks French.
Newt, what in the world can possibly be wrong with speaking the French language? Does it make you "more liberal"? As far as I am concerned knowing more than one language would make Mitt Romney a better suited candidate. It shows his diversity. For a country that owes a great deal to the French, it is outrageous to hear this in a campaign ad. If someone seeks a job IN THE GOVERNMENT and they put bilingual in both English and French as one of their skills, the employer would most likely choose that person over someone who only knows English. But enough griping, politicians run smear campaigns all the time and this one is no different. Welcome to the world of American politics.
